FAQ
At What Age Should I Bring My Child to See our Family Dentist?
It is recommended to begin taking your child to see your family dentist by the age of one, or shortly after they have their first tooth come in. Lets build those healthy oral care habits early!
A baby’s oral health begins in the mom’s tummy – we begin conversations about oral health early as a way to support both mom and her baby’s long term health. A mother’s oral health during pregnancy can directly impact a baby’s dental development and future risk for cavities. Prenatal visits are an excellent way to be informed of things such as the importance of mom’s oral health care habits, expectations for teething and oral development and when to schedule baby’s first visit!
Should I Wait for my Tooth to Hurt to See the Dentist?
No – it’s best not to wait until you’re in pain to visit the dentist. Many dental issues such as cavities, gum disease and infections can develop silently without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Regular dental check-ups allow your dentist to detect and treat problems before they become painful or require more complex treatment. Preventive care is not only more comfortable, but also more cost-effective in the long run. If you notice any changes in your teeth or gums it’s a good idea to schedule an appointment.
What Should I Expect for my First Visit as a New Patient?
At your first visit we will review your health and dental history, take any needed dental x-rays, clean your teeth and do a comprehensive oral exam. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have. We will create a personalized plan for your oral health and ensure you are comfortable throughout!
What Should I Expect After Having a Tooth Removed?
We will always give you a detailed explanation of what to expect following treatment and the aftercare instructions that pertain to it. We understand it can be a lot of information in a short time so a copy of our post-op instructions will also be sent home with you but you can also view them here: Extraction Post Op
Do you Accept Same Day or Emergency Patients?
We do our best to accommodate dental emergencies and walk in patients so that they are seen the same day. We know it can be tough to work appointments into a busy schedule so we offer evenings and occasional Saturdays so you can find a day that works for you!
